The other front bedroom is now a conference room with a window that has been enlarged to show a view of the Japanese maple tree in the side garden. On the left wall, two Japanese screens were used as closet doors to conceal shelves for printers and office supplies.
A partial width wall remains between the two areas because there was no beam spanning the width between the rooms. (Left to right in this photo.) The remaining wall was used to enclose a tokonoma: an alcove in traditional Japanese houses that typically contains a scroll and a small ikebana arrangement.
